Would it be possible for TMJM to (optionally ?) remember the plan zoom level upon restart ? So that it would start with the same zoom level it exited ? Currently I have to manually adjust the zoom to my preferrence every time I start it.

Hi Shchenka,

Its not exactly what you're after (but close); try the Menu/Settings/Activity Profile/Default Plan Zoom option, which sets both the initial zoom and the zoom used when pressing [4] twice (this toggles between showing the entire track and then the current location at the specified zoom)...

Cheers,
Stephen

ps: In reply to your other question about the Nokia C7, I would think it *should* work fine since Symbian^3 is effectively S60 on steroids as I understand it. (Though I can't say 100% as I haven't tried it myself)

Wow, this is even better. The first number is the default zoom level, and the number following the dot is for the entire track ?

Another thing that I would wish would be to toggle waypoint names display in the map, depending on the zoom level, or even better on the number of waypoints displayed. when I zoom in I like to see the names but otherwise, when there are many, they pretty clutter the display,
so what I have to do is toggle this manually when I zoom in/out, which is of course tedious. even better if it would be possible to set a threshold for this per each profile ...

btw, I keep separate profiles for city driving and country driving, they are quite different, especially that the number of geocaches in the towns and their density is much larger.

an interesting option, but i'm not sure if that viable would be to auto-adjust zoom level depending on the speed. not sure if this would not be confusing, though.

" Wow, this is even better. The first number is the default zoom level, and the number following the dot is for the entire track ? "

No, not quite...! Its just one single (decimal) number corresponding to the vector map zoom level as shown on the right side of the plan view when zooming in/out (make sure you have vector maps enabled to see this) - ie 9.5 is halfway between zoom 9 and 10. To fit the entire track press [4] a second time, then each subsequent press of [4] will switch between fitting the entire track and the default zoom level set above.

Mmm, I know what you mean about the waypoint names (I generally just leave them turned off, for this very reason), not sure that it needs even more custom settings though. It does try to reduce the number of names shown as you zoom out, though its not perfect - I'll see if I can tidy up the code somewhat...

The Nav view does have a speed-dependant zoom option (in View Options), though I think it might be slightly broken in the current version, doh! Its not available on the plan view though since this screen is buffered (to hugely speed up display time/reduce battery drain), which doesn't work well with quick/constant changes in zoom level.

Cheers,
Stephen

For my wish list:
1) Would like to see the Tutorial and User Guide pages posted as PDF files that could be downloaded for reference when an Internet connection is not available.

Another Wish List:
The ability to set the colors of of the various sub-pages in the Text Information Page [1] and
likewise the Night Colors setting.

For some reason I find it difficult to read the various information pages in bright sunlight and the pages when in the Night Mode with the various colored text.

I find it easier to read the pages when the background is black and the text is just plain white or light gray as in the "DarkBackground" for the Gauges Page [7]

Hi Tom,

I've added a PDF file link to the User Guide and Tutorials pages.

For the Text/Info Page colour schemes, I have coincidentally just added this in the latest release - you can now use the MY ACCOUNT/SETTINGS/Devices page to change the colours/layout...

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Stephen

Wow, Thanks for the quick response. I didn't expect immediate changes to my suggestions.

Just upgraded to TMJ ver 8.0

When I go to My Account>Settings>Devices the page has my device information( Account Information: My Devices) and the 9 variations of "Custom Vector Map Colour Schemes". Clicking the + sign gives me the option to change the various components of that particular vector map color scheme.
I do not see any thing related to the Text/Info Page[1] and its sub pages.

What am I not comprehending?

:-) No problem - the PDFs were straightforward to create by just printing the webpages!

The Account>Settings>Devices page *should* have a column in the Devices table labelled 'Text Screen Config', with a little icon (like this: ) that links to the Text config page.

Is this not appearing for your account??

More than I was looking for..
Thanks....

Thank you for a new version of TMJ - it is a great!
Would it be possible to add data about the Moon (phases of the Moon, Moon Visibility, azimut, rise, set etc.)? For us - night travelers - it's a necessity :-)

Hi Rolf,

I've been looking into the moon calculations again (I originally looked into this when adding the Sun position stuff), but I must admit that the formulas needed for the azimuth and altitude (and hence moon rise/set) are just too horrible for my sanity!! The Sun stuff was bad enough, but since the moon's motion involves two composite cycles (ie around the Earth and then around the Sun) the maths gets pretty complicated.

What I will do is add some basic moon phase info, its a start at least!

Cheers,
Stephen

If possible would like to have the red dot graphic for the GPS connection made bigger and consider placing it in a more conspicuous location. On my screen I estimate the GPS indicator to be about 2x2 pixels.
Another GPS application uses the following GPS status configuration which shows a bit more information. Maybe some variation of this could also be implemented. I realize that we can see the satellites connected on page 7 but when hiking along I really do not like to manipulate the screen. Am more concerned as to where I am stepping (rattle snake season is just about here). We also have an informal rule that all sounds are turned off on our devices.

GPS STATUS :
Blue Dot  = establishing GPS connection
Red Dot  =no GPS device
Orange Dot=GPS device but no fix
Green Dot =fix

Thanks.

Hi Tom,

Yes, I'll see what I can do. Probably a coloured flashing dot in the lower right of the screen, a similar size to the Pan-lock symbol that displays in the lower left of the Plan and Map screens. Will make it an option whether to display it or not...

Cheers,
Stephen

Hello Stephen, Making the dot the same size as the pan dot would be great. Mirror image of the pan dot would be even better as it gets the dot of of the very corner of the screen.
Thanks
