I'm experimenting with a couple of mobiles recently and found some perform better for TMJ than others. Also, the setups that work fine on some phones lead to problems on others etc. | |

Stephen 20:48 Location: Phone Model: | Hi John, The highest detail tracks can be recorded via the GPS Logging functions - for internal GPS use the Raw GPX log type, or for bluetooth GPS use the NMEA type. However, for general OSM mapping I generally just use the standard tracks recorded and uploaded to the website. When mapping I set the Settings/Activity to Walking which results in a slightly higher resolution track. One thing I would suggest is to use an external bluetooth GPS device rather than the phones built-in one, as I've never found these to be particularly reliable quality-wise (not to mention the drain on the phone battery). Cheers, Stephen ps: Incidentally I've been looking into adding direct support for Potlatch2 (the OSM online editor) to the TMJ website - the idea being that you go out mapping with the phone upload enabled, add some waypoints to the phone as mapping notes when you are out. Then on returning home there'll be a 'Edit in OSM' button next to the uploaded track which will automatically open it in PL2, including the waypoints, ready for easy editing...
