Hello,

I downloaded and installed the new version. However, it freezes my phone for minutes while draining my battery. It seems to happen especially in the planning view, but also in other views.
I'm not able to work with it. It even freezes while updating due to a new position. Since I've planned a cycle tour on an unknown route on Friday, please, can I have an older version back? They're not on the site for download. This would be a good idea anyway, to make it possible for users to roll back.
By the way, I'm using a Nokia E50 with an external GPS.

Hi Patrick,

I can send you 0.7.3 later today but I'm surprised that you're getting the freezing in the latest version (there's very little change between the two versions in terms of their 'footprint' or device requirements).

It might be worth trying a couple of things:

- check the Plan Page/Context Menu/Vector Map Options/Performance/BackBuffer. Set this to Single (or even Off). The other settings need more memory which may affect things.

- Try Menu/Clear/Clear Map Cache

- Try a complete reinstall: Delete TMJ, do full phone reboot (incl. removing battery briefly), then reinstall from web.

Does your phone otherwise have plenty of spare memory, resources, etc?

Any luck?

Cheers,
Stephen

I already found a 0.7.3 on getjar.com and installed it over 0.7.5 without making any changes to the settings or buffers and everything works fine again. So it's definitely the 0.7.5 version that causes the problem.

Regarding the footprint: I don't think the device is too slow or what. Because the battery-level is rapidly decreasing when it happens, I think there is some kind of loop that keeps spinning for a long time (for example an unsigned loop counter that gets decremented by 1 when it's already 0, leading to maximum value and a very long loop). First I thought the route may be causing this, but it also happens by other routes of no route loaded at all.

Regarding the vector maps: I have don't use 'm and have them switched off.
The map cache: Somehow, the map cache was emptied when I installed 0.7.5 over 0.7.3. This was not the case the other way around...

Reinstall / reboot: I rebooted a couple of times and even had to remove the battery once, to get 0.7.5 to stop stalling. But I did not remove it. I will try this after Friday (I need a stable tracker then to guide me on a 100km cycle tour :-) ).

Thx for coding!

Righto, maybe see what a full reinstall does when you get back then...

Good luck on the cycle!

Removed it, turned off the phone, removed battery, installed 0.7.5, imported settings, filled the cache again. Seems OK so far. No hang-ups or freezes. The fire-proof will be the 2-day hike with my wife and kids next two days. I'll bring an analogue compass to be sure :-) (tip: One should always do this!).
Thanks.

No, it did not happen to me again. I've used it last weeks for 4 days during walking trips without any problem. So it seems it had to do with upgrading or something like that.
Thanks for the tips.
