Hello,
first of all: Thanks for a nice program!

The other day, I took my c702 with TMJ flying. It did great. I got good KML files to import into Google Earth to review my flights afterwards - with one exception. The altitude data is off somehow, both in the KML and in the GPZ files. Upon landing, it shows me some 200 m above ground level, and slowly descending above the taxiway on my way to the ramp. I see this on two consecutive flights.

Is TMJ applying some very aggressive damping on the altitude data received? I didn't see it before, but reexamining some tracks recorded while driving I think I see the track disappearing underground when going uphill and becoming slightly elevated when going downhill.

If so, is there any way of getting rid of this? It rather spoils TMJ as far as flight logging goes, I'm afraid. Are there any similar smoothing algorithms at work in the horisontal positioning? I'd say no, judging by the accurate following of roads.

Cheers,
 /Fred

Hi Fred,

Try turning off Menu/Settings/Other Settings/Apply Extra Altitude Smoothing. This was originally designed for when moving slowly, ie walking, to reduce the spikiness of the altitude profile. Unfortunately its not so good when moving quickly as the altitude tends to lag behind its actual position, as you have found!

Interesting pictures - its good to see TMJ being used for lots of different purposes!

Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen, thanks for the quick reply. I found the option later on and it is now disabled, with no noticeable ill effects on my positioning during the drive to work. I'll keep it off the next time I go flying and post the results here.

Having the logs in GE was a very valuable tool to evaluate my flying upon landing!

Regards,
 /Fred
