Hi Stephen,

First of all: thumbs up for v0.65.

Today, while driving down the country, I noticed the following. On my BlackBerry, the indicators (at least: those known to me) for a healthy upload of data were green:

1. Snd/Rcvd was going up, while /Fld remained 0.
2. In the "last web response", I noticed the time moving forward.

However, in that very box "last web response", the name of the area that I was in, remained the same after a while.

My question is: can you detect what was going wrong here? I just had a check on the upload and it appeared that from the moment the "place indication" in the "last web response" stopped changing, the upload went wrong. Was this a bug, a hanging process or maybe a disk space problem ... Or am I looking at the wrong indicators?

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi Mark,

I've had a look in the server logs and it does look like something odd was happening, but I suspect it is to do with TMJ-Mobile rather than the website.

The logs show that the phone *was* successfully transmitting to the website every 8 seconds or so but between 14:45 and 15:37 the live location and timestamp that was being sent did not alter, which would certainly account for the area name not changing.

The simplest explanation would be that the phones GPS got 'stuck' for some reason. What was actually recorded in the track on the phone? If the track is complete, then there is definitely something odd going on! Did you notice whether the phone had a valid GPS signal at the time?

Cheers,
Stephen

Stephen,

thanks for having a look. The logging on the phone indeed showed that I was in the same position in the timeframe you mention (although I was actually moving). Funny thing is that I suggested my parents-in-law (whom we had visited) to look on the internet where we were on the way back. After 1,5 hours he calls: "either you had an accident or you're in a giant traffic jam".

At least I'm relieved that the indicators for succesful uploading were working okay. The setup I used was actually a Parrot carkit with GPS, bluetooth connected to my BlackBerry 8707v. Having read your explanation, I suspect the BB for not handling well the incoming GPS information from the Parrot (which has never failed me, but ... sometime must be the first).

Thanks again, I know where to look the next time.

Cheers,

Mark.
