Hi,

Another couple of things that I thought about recently...

Please can we have a confirmation when clearing a route/track etc? I just went to clear a route I'd made, and accidentally cleared the track instead... :-(
You could have an option to turn the confirmation on and off in the setup for those that don't want it...
Just a prompt like 'Clear TRACK, are you sure?' would be excellent.

The other one, (and this isn't really for the ToDo list, but I'd be interested to know how hard you think it would be... The 3D view of the track. You have the option to Pan/Rotate at the moment. Is it possible to have a 'Follow' option so you can sort of move along the track. Or even cooler, some sort of Fly Past that 'flew' up and down the slopes, and round the curves...

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Ok, I'll add the confirmation prompt to the list!

Regarding the 3D view, yes I guess this is possible, though I'm not sure that it would seem as impressive as it sounds. Up close the track would seem quite jerky, and incidentally on longer tracks only every other 2 or 3 points are displayed (due to annoying Java 3D memory limitations) making it even more jerky. (The far better way to view this kind of animation is by importing the track into Google Earth via the website).

I've actually considered removing the 3D view altogether (I personally rarely use it), or maybe integrate it into the Navigation page by allowing the nav page location to be scrolled around (rather than just fixed at the current location as is the case at the moment). No firm plans yet though.

I guess I'll put it on the list for the moment (right at the very bottom for sure) - if its not be too difficult to just change the camera viewpoint to achieve this (its been quite a while since I worked on the 3D view, I'll have to re-acquaint myself with the code)!

Regards,
Stephen

Seriously Stephen,

Don't waste any time on the 3D thing on my behalf. It could be quite a cool feature to show other people, but as you suggest, it's of somewhat limited practical use, and if it's stretching the limits of Java3D then it's probably bloat that your program could do without.

Save it for a wet Sunday afternoon in the winter, when you're bored of working on all the 'proper' features and functions... :-)

Cheers,

Chris.

Hi Stephen,

I THOUGHT we'd talked about this at some point. I guess with the non-summer we've had this year, those wet Sunday afternoons came round quicker than you thought.
If the recent changes to the Visulisation screen were in response to this thread then thank you very much!
If it wan't a response to this then, well thanks anyway!!

:-)

If I haven't said so recently, keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Chris.
